Hi everyone,
I’m writing to update you on some small changes to gate and car park arrangements at The Leys College, which will start from Wednesday 14 January.
These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to Safe Students, Safe Staff, Safe Spaces, and they link directly to our Learning Philosophy. We know that you learn best when college feels safe, calm and well organised. Our aim is to keep the campus secure while still making it as easy as possible for you to get to lessons and move around site.
What’s staying the same
- The front reception gate on Cuddesdon Way will also stay the same and continues to be for pedestrians only.
This gate and car park are mainly for staff and visitors, so for most students this will not change your usual route. If you do currently come in or out through this gate on foot during the middle of the day, you’ll need to use the main reception entrance instead.
Telford car park (rear of campus)
We know many of you use the Telford car park at the back of the campus.
From Wednesday the Telford car park itself will remain open all day, so you can still park there as usual. However, there will be no direct entrance into the main campus from the rear by Telford.
This means that after parking at Telford, you will need to either walk round to the Library gates on Blackbird Leys Road, or walk round to the front reception gate on Cuddesdon Way to enter the campus.
We appreciate this may add a short walk to your journey and we are grateful for your patience. These changes are part of a phased plan to introduce better controlled access at the rear of the site in the coming weeks.
We are making these adjustments because we want The Leys College to remain a safe, welcoming place to learn and spend time with friends.
