The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (equivalent to 3 A Levels) is an inclusive and comprehensive programme that introduces students to the exciting field of advanced engineering.

You will:

  • develop a solid understanding of advanced engineering principles and their practical application in real-world scenarios.
  • acquire hands-on experience with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and equipment.
  • foster critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical and design skills within an engineering context.
  • enhance teamwork, communication, and project management abilities through collaborative engineering projects.

You will be taught through a combination of classroom-based instruction, hands-on practical activities, real-world engineering projects, and oral presentations. You will have opportunities to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams, gaining both technical knowledge and the workplace skills required for a successful career in engineering.

Assessment in this course is diverse, with a range of methods employed to ensure comprehensive evaluation. You will participate in practical assignments, coursework, tests and presentations. This varied approach allows you to demonstrate your understanding of concepts and your ability to apply them to real-world engineering scenarios.

Successful completion of this programme opens various pathways for further education or employment. You can choose to pursue higher education at universities, where you can undertake engineering-related degree programmes and further specialise in engineering fields such as manufacturing, Aerospace, architecture, mechanical, industrial, product design or robotics. Alternatively, this would enable you to pursue a degree-level apprenticeship.

You need to have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English Language, or a relevant Level 2 Certificate with a Merit grade or above.

You are expected to bring your own pen, pencil, calculator, basic drawing equipment, and a notepad for theory and workshop sessions.
